Tutoring Services Resume at Pincham Center (WYTV Youngstown)

A local program to help high school students pass their graduation tests is back in business.

The Pincham Initiative, founded by community activist Edna Pincham, resumed operations Saturday at the Pincham Initiative Resource Center in Younstown. The center had closed after Pincham's death in July.

Recently, retired school teacher and family friend, Beverly Lee, organized an effort to resume tutoring services at the facility. The Pincham family also credits the Third Baptist Church of Youngstown along with many other donors that have made the re-opening of the facility possible.

"When my mother passed away, even through those last moments, she wanted to make sure we didn't forget the children that were coming here for tutoring. We needed some time to grieve and get things together so this is an exciting day," said Edna's daughter Cynthia Pincham Mason.

Tutoring will be available Saturdays from 10 a.m. until Noon. The center is working on providing an expanded schedule in the future.
