The Learning Disabilities Association of Chatham-Kent is now accepting registration for their winter/spring 2010 programs.

Programs include:

Tutoring program for elementary students

Children receive one-to-one tutoring with individualized programs that focus on their specific needs.

Social skills program for elementary students

Possible subjects such as accepting consequences, ignoring distractions, friendship and bullying are taught using directive

interactive information. Sessions run Wednesday evenings, March 3 to May 19.

Computer Club for ages 9-14

Students will have opportunity to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Adaptive technology such as Premier, Dragon Naturally Speaking and Kurzwell 3000 will also be introduced. The interactive program will help to develop keyboarding and computer skills through games, activities and projects. Session runs Tuesday evenings February 2010.

Secondary School Transitioning Program

This program has students in Grades 6-8 learn specific skills to assist in a smooth transition from elementary school into secondary school. Some discussion items include: learning styles, study habits, defining writing activities, memory cues, project completion, presentations and how to advocate more effectively for themselves. Session runs Wednesday evenings, March 3 to May 5.
