| Workshop Feb. 25 features speakers who came back after suffering stroke (The Manteca Bulletin) Posted: 16 Feb 2010 01:15 AM PST Message from fivefilters.org: If you can, please donate to the full-text RSS service so we can continue developing it. Lisa Harp is the CEO and founder of the Harp Learning Institute. Located in Lodi, her learning center helps those youngsters overcome their academic struggles, picking up where traditional tutoring leaves off. She developed the very teaching techniques used at the Harp Learning Institute years ago while working with her son's learning difficulties. Harp, who founded the learning institution in 2001, will be the guest speaker at this month's Central Valley – Recovery, Awareness, Preventing Strokes, or CV-RAPS, meeting. The Feb. 25 session is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m. in the Health Plan of San Joaquin building, 7751 S. Manthey Road, French Camp. Cost is a $15 donation or $5 for survivors and caregivers. Harp will be joined by Bernard Adeniram, Catherine Brovelli, Greg Garma, and Reuben Elias. Adeniram, Garma, and Elias are stroke survivors. Adeniram will tell his experience of regaining his strength while starting all over after his stroke. Challenged with reading after his stroke, Garma managed to get his computer to read to him by designing a format that can now be found on youtube.com. As for Elias, he found strength and guidance through prayer. Brovelli is a caregiver. She'll share her recent research on social psychotherapy. CV-RAPS serve as a support group for stroke and traumatic brain injury survivors. To RSVP for lunch or obtain more information, call Mary Nicholson, Healings in Motion, Inc., (209) 234-2802.
